Friday

$4.50 Burrito!
Friday was another crazy day on the job front so I let loose on my budget a little and celebrated throughout the weekend. Friday evening, however, I just wanted to relax. I played some more Kingdom Hearts, watched the Olympic opening ceremony and had a relaxing night at home.

Friday

KitchenAid Mixer!
Friday was great day. I scored two job interviews and was given a KitchenAid mixer as a gift from my boyfriend! To celebrate, we went out to a local bar with some friends in the evening. One drink was bought for me but really the evening was just spent socializing. After the bar, we walked across the street to a pizza place where some people ordered food but I declined the cheap grease and made myself a snack at home.

The Nerds!

Friday

I knew all week that a cover band I liked was playing nearby on Friday and decided that it was worth $10 to me. So I got some friends together and had a good time there. I didn’t buy any drinks and just enjoyed the band instead. Prior to going out, I made my own marinara sauce served with some gnocchi. Those lil’ gnocchi are so filling!

Weekend: Christmas Break

Every weekend, I will detail my activities and expenses to provide an example of how to implement a frugal mindset while still having a fun and active life.

Since this was a long weekend, I’ll start by detailing Wednesday night (the 23rd) through Sunday (the 27th).

Wednesday

I went out to a local bar with some friends and spent $3 on an infamous chocolate cake shot (no chocolate involved, I swear!). I spent the rest of the evening chatting with my friends and had a great time. I only brought five dollars with me so I wouldn’t be tempted to spend more. The plan worked. I passed on a second drink and still had an enjoyable evening.

Weekend: December 18-20, 2009

Every weekend, I will detail my activities and expenses to provide an example of how to implement a frugal mindset while still having a fun and active life.

Friday

The entire weekend was plagued with a threat of a giant blizzard. So starting Friday, I didn’t do much other than relaxing inside and working on some personal projects. I made dinner out of some pasta I found buried in the back of the cupboard and my home-made marinara that I had already thawed. It was quick and filling.

Weekend: December 4-6, 2009

Every weekend, I will detail my activities and expenses to provide an example of how to implement a frugal mindset while still having a fun and active life.

Friday

After work, I had leftover spicy chicken and rice for dinner then watched more of that Everest show on Netflix. A friend last-minute invited me out to a local bar to see a band play. I debated going because I wasn’t too keen on spending $8 to see a band plus drinks but I decided that I would just have a beer beforehand and suck up the cover to hang out with some friends.

Well, I am definitely glad I went because we just hung out in the bar (cover-free) instead of paying to see a band. For drinks, my friend came back from the bar carrying two cokes and then proceeded to “mod” them under the table with supplies she brought in her purse. I had no objection! Someone else bought a pitcher of beer, so I had a glass of that. The night was a lot of fun! I met new people, stayed there until the bar closed at 2a and had a great time.

Weekend: Thanksgiving Break

Every weekend, I will detail my activities and expenses to provide an example of how to implement a frugal mindset while still having a fun and active life.

Since this was a long weekend, I’ll start by detailing Wednesday night (the 25th) through Sunday (the 29th).

Wednesday

I left work around 3p then went home, snacked on some vegetables and spent the rest of the afternoon beating Ratchet and Clank!

I made a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner then met up with a friend at a local bar to chat and listen to a cover band. She bought a round of shots and I bought myself a White Russian ($6 including tip). I lounged around some more at home after the bar then fell asleep.

Every weekend, I will detail my activities and expenses to provide an example of how to implement a frugal mindset while still having a fun and active life.

Friday

On Friday night I made myself a quick pasta meal using the marinara I made earlier in the week. I had it three times last week so I just froze the rest for later in the month. My friend let me borrow his PlayStation3 for a week so he can write a paper without distractions. So, Friday night around 7p, I made the mistake of starting the game Uncharted 2…. and that was my entire Friday night.
